Active Constituent(s)

  • 2.1 g/L Copper
  • 1 g/L Moxidectin
  • 1 g/L Iodine
  • 0.6 g/L Zinc
  • 0.5 g/L Selenium
  • 0.2 g/L Cobalt

Indications

PENTAMOX MINERALISED ORAL DRENCH FOR SHEEP contains moxidectin, a member of the macrocyclic lactone family. It is effective against nematodes with resistance to other anthelmintics (including benzimidazoles, levamisole and morantel).

PENTAMOX MINERALISED ORAL DRENCH FOR SHEEP has also shown efficacy against a number of strains of Haemonchus contortus and Ostertagia spp. that are resistant to the avermectins. However, as moxidectin shares a similar mechanism of action to the avermectins, it should not be used where avermectin resistance is present, except where specially recommended by an adviser.

Resistance can develop to any chemical. It is advisable that a resistance test be conducted regularly when using any parasite treatment. Ask your local veterinary practitioner or animal health advisor for recommended parasite management practices for your area to reduce development of resistance.

PENTAMOX MINERALISED ORAL DRENCH FOR SHEEP is effective against sensitive strains of the following internal parasites:

Gastrointestinal Parasites: Adult and immature stages of Haemonchus contortus, Ostertagia circumcincta, Ostertagia trifurcata, Trichostrongylus axei, Trichostrongylus colubriformis, Trichostrongylus vitrinus, Nematodirus spathiger, Nematodirus filicollis, Cooperia curticei (adult only), Cooperia oncophora (adult only), Cooperia punctata (adult only), Oesophagostomum venulosum (adult only), Chabertia ovina (adult only), Trichuris ovis (adult only), Strongyloides papillosus (adult only), inhibited (or hypobiotic) larvae of Haemonchus, Ostertagia and Trichostrongylus.

Lungworm (adult and immature): Dictyocaulus filaria.

External parasites: Also effective against itch mite Psorergates ovis.

PENTAMOX MINERALISED ORAL DRENCH FOR SHEEP is not recommended for use in goats as safety and efficacy have not been evaluated in goats.

Dosage

By law, the user must take due care, obtaining expert advice when necessary, to avoid unnecessary pain and distress when using the product other than as directed on the label.

Do not use at the same time as any other selenised fertiliser, prill or product without consulting a veterinarian.

Do not exceed the stated dose, or dose more frequently than 3-weekly.

Caution: In sheep, liver levels of copper may be quite variable. Consequently, there is always a risk of copper poisoning (deaths) occurring following copper supplementation in this species.

SHAKE WELL BEFORE USE

PENTAMOX MINERALISED ORAL DRENCH FOR SHEEP is ready to use through standard drenching equipment. Administer 1 mL per 5 kg liveweight.

Rinse gun after use.

Draft animals into lines of similar bodyweight.

A representative sample of animals should be weighed before treatment.

Dose the mob to the heaviest animal by liveweight in each group (ewes, wethers, rams, lambs). Do not underdose.

If there is a large variation in size within the group, draft into two or more lines based on bodyweight to avoid excessive overdosing.

Correct drenching technique should be used.

Check accuracy of drench guns regularly.
